On July 1st, 2023, Google will retire Universal Analytics and replace it with Google Analytics 4 (GA4). All existing data needs to be migrated to GA4 before then, otherwise, it will be lost. If you’re unsure how to migrate this data, Your Digital Agency Services can help.
We can also help build a brand-new GA4 property with everything you’ll need to succeed, if you’re not currently running digital ads, but plan to in the future.
The following services are available, and we can’t wait to help you unlock the full potential of your data-driven success!
The Google Analytics 4: Migration service allows our team to create a new GA4 property, migrate all existing data, and migrate up to 3 existing goals.
The Google Analytics 4: Complete Build service allows our team to create the Google Tag Manager code, create a new GA4 property, set up new goals, and make sure everything is synced correctly.
Why should you migrate?
With Google pulling the pin on the Universe Analytics platform (UA), it will stop tracking data from July 1, 2023. Moreover, you will be able to access your UA data for a period of 6 months only; you obviously don’t want to lose your crucial data. It is imperative for you to make the switch to GA4 at the earliest.
Upgrading to GA4 will enable you to access a host of benefits, such as:
Benefits of Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) offers several advantages over Universal Analytics. It takes a user-centric approach, focusing on individual user journeys across devices and platforms. With simplified event tracking, GA4 allows easy measurement of custom events without complex configurations. It harnesses AI and machine learning to provide smarter insights, automatically identifying trends and anomalies in the data. GA4 provides enhanced cross-platform and app tracking, giving a unified view of user behavior. The reporting and visualization capabilities are improved, with intuitive interfaces and interactive data visualization options.
GA4 is also designed to align with evolving privacy regulations and user consent requirements. It provides enhanced data control settings, granular data retention options, and streamlined user deletion controls. This helps businesses maintain compliance with privacy regulations and build trust with their users.
Is GA4 migration a significant update?
Yes, this is a much bigger update than any of the updates released by Google in the past 10 to 15 years. The GA4 migration is a paradigm shift and therefore requires significant planning to ensure efficient implementation.
How difficult is it to migrate from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4?
It depends on the approach; it’s very simple and very complex at the same time.
1st Approach: Map existing custom events nomenclature to GA4.
2nd Approach: Create a fresh events nomenclature to GA4 (App+Web).
Will my historical data from UA be available after the migration?
Yes, you will be able to see all your historical data in your Universal Analytics properties for at least six months after the deprecation date. Once this grace period is over, it will no longer be accessible in the Google Analytics interface.
